What Makes Paragon Infill Builds Sustainable?

Sustainable materials for an eco-conscious world

Caring for the environment is more important now than ever before.

Our team here at Paragon Design Builds works hard to ensure that we use sustainable materials and practices to reduce our carbon footprint. Using eco-friendly materials is not only good for the environment, they also improve the quality of life for the people who live in our developments.

8 Materials That Make Paragon Design Builds Sustainable

We are proud to support companies that value sustainability as much as we do. This list consists of some of the sustainable materials that we have used for our builds.

Logix® Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF)

Logix ICFs are energy efficient building materials. This engineering design needs less energy compared to conventional materials because it keeps homes warm, and thus less electricity is used in furnaces and heaters. Tenants and homeowners can get up to 50% in energy savings with ICFs.

Not only do ICFs optimize energy performance, they are also made from recycled materials. ICFs improve indoor air quality and extend the building lifespan. This system is known worldwide for its superior strength, durability, insulation, conservation and energy efficiency making it the preferred choice for infill developments.

Halo® Subterra® Rigid Insulation

This insulation is produced without the use of chlorofluorocarbon (CFCs), hydrochlorofluorocarbon (HCFCs) or formaldehyde, which means this building material does not produce any harmful emissions.

Tyvek® Building Envelope Systems

We used Tyvek Building Envelope systems with Tyvek DrainWrap™ , Tyvek StraightFlash™ and Tyvek FlexWrap™. These are sustainable building materials made by DuPont™, that received the Green Approved Product Seal for National Green Building Certification from the Home Innovation Research Labs.

Edge Gold™  Oriented Strand Board (OSB)

Weyerhaeuser is another company that is committed to producing sustainable products. They practice sustainable forestry where they manage their wood production - this includes soil productivity, water quality and wildlife habitat. They plant 50,000,000 seedlings each year and only harvest 1 to 3% of the forests they manage each year.

Their products are also produced efficiently. 73% of their energy comes from carbon-neutral biomass which helps them limit the use of fossil fuels.

MiTek®  FLOOR-TRUSS Floor System

MiTek Canada Inc.’s floor system is engineered for design flexibility. They use sustainably-sourced wood to maximize its environmental advantages to fight climate change. Wood is a renewable resource that reduces greenhouse gas emissions.

Kohler® Faucets, Sinks And Toilets

Kohler introduced their Design for Environment (DfE) program that provides transparency through Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). The company strives to support eco-friendly materials for all their products and their DfE program allows them to reassess their current products and look for opportunities to make their products as sustainable as possible.

SONOpan® Sound Insulation

We used SONOpan for our below floor sound insulation. What’s great about this product is it is made from 100% recycled wood. It is also 100% recyclable. This sound insulation is made without formaldehyde or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and is produced in an efficient and ecologically friendly way.

Owens Corning Thermafiber® Fire & Sound Guard™ Insulation

This product is made out of 70% recycled materials. Owens Corning was recognized as one of 2020 World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute. They continue to be leaders of sustainability in the industry. In 2020, they also received CDP’s “Climate A List” recognition because of their corporate sustainable leadership and their actions in 2019 to reduce their carbon emissions and climate risks, along with other sustainability distinctions.

Our Continued Promise To Mother Earth
